Commodity Program
To help with the cost of childcare, Shults-Lewis asks churches and individuals to participate in our Commodity Program. Churches are asked to collect money to be used toward the purchase of perishable items such as meat, milk, fresh veggies, and fruit and bread or an "item" such as canned goods, cleaning supplies, and paper products. Once a year, the Development Director travels to churches in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Iowa to pick up these items.
The Development Director sees lots of folks and puts many miles on the Red Shults-Lewis Van.

To make the "pick ups" more efficient, the states are divided into areas; Michigan has 6, Indiana has 5 including parts of Ohio, and Illinois has 5 including parts of Iowa and Wisconsin.

When Jim stops by, don't forget the Milk and Meat money you have collected.

When Jim visits your congregation to pick up your commodities for Shults-Lewis, won't you consider collecting "BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION"? Through collective efforts of individuals in congregations, it is not unusual for a congregation to send us several hundred of these each year. Remember, even the smallest of efforts, when done by many, can yield great dividends!

Another way individuals can help is by saving "Campbell's Soup Labels". Simply cut out the UPC labels on the Campbell's products and give them to Jim when he drops in.
