Board of Trustees

   
   

The Shults-Lewis Board of Trustees oversees the ongoing development of Shults-Lewis and its mission. The authority to operate Shults-Lewis Child & Family Services is held by the Board of Trustees. The Articles of Incorporation for Shults-Lewis (Article II, Section 2) state the following:

All members of the Board of Trustees shall by faithful, active members of the churches of Christ, who have an interest in child care and the goals of Shults-Lewis, and shall be elected by the Board of Trustees for a term of three years.

Shults-Lewis is a ministry of the churches of Christ and its mission is to serve children and families in need by offering mental and emotional healing, counseling and care. In that same spirit, Shults-Lewis also seeks serve children and families by offering the spiritual healing found only in Jesus Christ.

Bob Sparks

President
Bob is a Deacon at the Rochester church of Christ and is active in various programs for the elementary and middle school children. He is employed as an Iron Worker Foreman at Detroit Door & Hardware.

 

Ron Englehart

Vice-President
Ron has lived and worked in the Detroit area as an advertising consultant for many years . He has been on the Shults-Lewis board for over 20 years. He has also served as chairman of the board. He attends the Wateford Church of Christ in Michigan.

 

 

 

Terry McCarthy

Secretary

Terry is employed by Interstate Fire Protection where he is a Sprinkler Fitter out of Local 704 in Detroit.  He and his wife Jamesa have 3 children.  Terry is committed to the Shults-Lewis mission and continues to be active in the Phone Campaign held annually. 

 

 

 Alan Bain

Treasurer 
Alan is an attorney and a C.P.A. as well as an elder at the Northwest church of Christ in Chicago. He has served on the Shults-Lewis Board since 1991. Alan is married to Michelle and have two children, Matthew and Victoria.

Masker Clemons, Jr.
Masker is a retired machine operator for General Motors that now lives in Saginaw, Michigan. Masker is a long time member of the Board of Trustees

 

 

 

 

Peter Bumpass

 

Peter Bumpass
Peter is an elder at the South Holland church of Christ. He has been at the South Holland church for over 35 years. Peter and his family are active participants and supporters of the Shults Lewis ministry.

Merle Heckman
 

Merle has served Shults Lewis in a board of Trustees capacity in many ways over the years. Merle and his wife Sandra live in Sterling, Illinois and has served the Shults Lewis mission in many capacity. He is a leader the Sterling church of Christ.

 

 

Justin Avey

Justin is a long time supporter of Shults-Lewis from Illinois.  His business expertise is a wonderful asset to the Board of Trustees.

 

 

 

Richard Stockton

 

Richard Stockton

Dick Stockton is from the Indianapolis, Indiana area.  He and his wife, Nita, are currently Sojourners.  The kids and staff alike enjoy their time with the Stocktons during each year's Sojourn to the Shults-Lewis campus.

Jim Maxwell

 

Jim Maxwell
Jim is retired line worker for Ford Motor Company and currently lives in Comins, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula. He and his wife Ruth have grown children. Jim has also served as chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Dewayne Smith

Dewayne Smith
Dewayne is the only member of the board of trustees that was actually a resident of the Shults-Lewis facility as a child. Dewayne has become a great leader in the chid care ministry and has made a valuable contribution of time and talent to Shults-Lewis. He is a longtime supporter of Shults-Lewis and it’s mission to help kids. He and his wife Marilyn are members of the Naperville church of Christ in Naperville, Illinois.

 
 

Tyrone Thompson

Tyrone Thompson is from Naperville, Illionis.  Tyrone is a recent addition to the Board of Trustees.
